Barnaby Brookes Jnr. is still haunted by the death of his parents at the hands of the organisation known as Oroborus, and he is no closer to finding the killer who wears the mark on his hand. The only lead he had was killed by a mystery man calling himself the Lunatic.
With the Lunatic killing off the criminals, the public is starting to question whether they need the heroes, and Hero TV just might be in jeopardy. Many believe Lunatic is better at wiping out crime than the heroes, so Hero TV is sending out three of their best heroes to drum up the people's morale. This might seem like a good idea, but when they have considered Tiger, Bunny and Origami Cyclone as their 'best' you have to wonder. Each hero makes a speech about what they do and why, but Barnaby is all about collecting points before anyone else, and Ivan waffles on sponsorship and logo screen time while Kotetsu is the only one who really understands that what he does is for the people and catching the criminals is king, not points or sponsorship.

As the first two discs of the series concentrated on Tiger and Bunny, this one focuses its attention on Origami Cyclone and Dragon Kid, but that isn't all - there is also the story behind Barnaby to consider. Ivan (Origami Cyclone) doesn't enjoy his job as he thinks he isn't any good at being a hero, not like Tiger and Bunny. He wishes he could get people's trust like Tiger as it seems to come easy to him, but feels like a failure most of the time. The other heroes think he's in a slump, but we soon find out the real reason why. He had doubts about his power when he was a N.E.X.T. and even though his power is quite unique, he doesn't think it is useful enough as the other members. While still at the academy, an incident he blames himself for got his partner and best friend Edward put in jail for a crime he didn't do on purpose, and he hasn't been the same since. Pao Lin (Dragon Kid) might kick ass when she's in her outfit (it looks like the one Uma Thurman wore in Kill Bill) but in real life she's bored with being hero and would love to do anything else to take her mind off it, so when she has to look after the Mayor's baby, will her maternal instinct come out on top, or will she fail to be someone who thinks of anyone else but herself?
Even though the third and fourth disc in the series concentrates on these two Barnaby is still out there trying to find out who killed his parents, and thinks he has found another lead who is being kept in maximum security at the local prison, Jake Martinez. He believes he is the felon who he saw as a child, and as the memory has come back to him, he knows he has a chance to find out why he did it. While Barnaby is getting close to Jake, Oroboros make their move announcing to everyone in the city that if the authorities don't let Jake out of prison, they will level the city and kill all the people. This is a super hero series with a difference, it's tongue-in-cheek and doesn't mind pointing fun at itself.
There are some excellent comedy scenes in this, with Ivan thinking he is the lowest ranking hero and Tiger not denying it; he also gets bad comments on his blog about his ineffectiveness as a hero which makes him more human than hero in most people's eyes; Tiger refers to Lunatic as 'Old Palm Face,' ;Blue Rose has a cutie escape move Tiger wants to emulate, and some of the characters have funky eyebrows.

Bonus Material: USTRAM Mini Corner Volume 1 (this is a comedy drama where cuddly plushie versions of Tiger and Bunny advertise about each other in a fun way and comes as Japanese with English subtitles.
Verdict: Superheroes with a twist - if you like the idea of a fun team getting into trouble and causing mayhem, this is for you!
