In the series, Rin Okamura vowed to avenge the death of his adoptive father after his real father, Satan had killed him, hoping he would join him in Hell. In order to properly avenge him, Rin joined the True Cross Academy to become an exorcist, but being a demon and son of Satan, the ruler of all demons, he doesn't have it easy.
Remembering a time when things were better in their family, Rin hears the story of the village demon who disappeared but was never forgotten as a festival was held in its honour once every eleven years. In the present the True Cross Academy are holding the exact same festival. Rin, his brother and Shiemi are going to be the ones who exorcise a phantom train. As if Rin's lateness isn't bad enough the plan they have might not work as they have noticed that demons are attracted to Rin no matter where he is.
Yukio's plan is to wait for the phantom train and board the one behind it, following it before it gets to Gehenna. That is when the train will change into its real demon form and he will exorcise it. The reason they haven't entered the train is to do with the people already on board - they are dead, trapped and probably don't even know they are kept there.
If Rin, Yukio and Shiemi go on board too - they will most probably die alongside them. Now that's what I call a phantom train. Rin tries to do his worst and the demon on the train door handle tries to trap him. Lucky for him he's the son of Satan and he's not about to be taken by a pesky demon train. The movie plays o ut like an extended series of episodes, but the production value is high, it has laughs where they need to be and the right amount of spooky feeling.

Verdict: The series was great - so imagine how good the movie is!
