Now that Danzo is dead, the leaf have to think of who they are going to appoint as the next Hokage. The elders have a good idea of who they want, yet he might not be ready for it. Everyone in the village is startled to hear that Sasuke Uchiha single handedly took Danzo down in battle, and even Naruto realises Sasuke has got much darker since their last meeting, but now that they have captured Karin they might be able to interrogate her enough to get the intel they need.

Sasuke, however is under the watchful eye of Tobi as he gives him advice on how to take in Itachi's eyes and what the true power of the mangekyo is. Tobi is concerned that its power may be too much for him to bear, but Sasuke likes the feeling of Itachi's power inside him already.
In the 18th box set, there are a lot of events going on at the same time. Kabuto is on the prowl after his body has adjusted to Lord Orochimaru's cells, Naruto has to go to Mount Myoboku to learn how to control the nine-tails power inside him and Kakashi discovers he may be tipped for greatness - much to his amazement. Naruto remembers all the times he has allowed the nine-tails to take over his personality to turn him into a raging monster and he thinks it is high time he had the opportunity to control it. In order to do this he has to ingest Gerotora, the scroll toad as  he holds the key to a power Lord Jiraiya knew of and possessed when he was alive. He was given the task of guarding the key to the eight - signed  seal he put on Naruto's stomach. Now Naruto has the chance to place his hand on the seal and ingest the scroll toad until he can have a go at controlling the nine-tails in order to extract his power. He needs to do this if he is going to be a part of the next great ninja war.

These two discs have a series of episodes where we see the two popular squads on board a ship bound for the island where the eight-tails jinchuriki resides. Naruto, Guy, Kakashi, and Yamato set sail, but it's Guy who slows them down as he becomes seasick after such a long journey. This carries on for many episodes and forms most of the humour other than Naruto being his usual naughty self. Naruto also has trouble with his shadow clones trying to take over the ship and when Shikamaru is sent on the voyage with them by his dad to take his mind off things, he doesn't know how true it is. As I said, there is a lot happening in this set that leads up to Naruto gaining new powers but also to take control over his much darker inner side later on.

Box Set 18 is a mix of fun, humour and serious terror on the high seas.

Bonus Material: Storyboards, Key Art and Trailers.

Verdict: Naruto is still one of the most popular series around and this box set shows it.
