Love is strange and yet powerful for Hayden as he is trying to free Felix from his master Darius even though he is ultimately bound to him as his servant. Hayden can only break the curse if he poses as Levi, but there is a deeper problem – if he does this, he has to deceive Felix, but if he finds out what is going on, he might be pretty angry with him.

In the unusual twist to this story, Felix finds Levi has changed somehow and he can’t put his finger on why – he is somehow more interested in him, and a lot more aware of his presence. Also sexually he wants him more often than he used to – but will he eventually notice that Levi isn’t really Levi anymore? As love triangles go, this one is very interesting.

What I liked about this story was that it wasn't just about the sexual fulfilment of two men, there are contracts that have to be adhered to, and lives that could be lost in amongst the problems these characters are facing. Darius proves to be a formidable enemy to Hayden and in a way Felix as he is a man who is too used to getting what he wants even now.

Throughout the story I was sat wondering whether Hayden will be found out after all, and it ends up being a knuckle-biting race to the end as to the answer to that burning question. The awful thing is that Felix knows he will have to kill Levi very soon, but now that he has developed a love interest in him due to Hayden's interaction, it remains to be seen as to whether he will kill him. As I said, I was left wondering what would happen all the way through the story, and found it heart aching to do so. Felix is almost haunted by Hayden's presence even though he isn't there (he doesn't know about Hayden posing as Levi) the way he acts like Hayden, laughs like him and teases him sexually in the same way. He finds the boy alluring in ways he never thought possible, but while he's reeling from that, Hayden is trying to change his life and the lives of those he cares about around him. When he hears Levi declare he loves him, he doesn't know what to do, only that he wants him, but has to think about what is going on in his life. I didn't envy Felix in any way while reading this part of the story. When he hears Levi say those words, it is almost out of context as Felix is in love with Hayden, so all the erotic plays for Felix's affections by seem almost peculiar. There is a little comedy hiding away in the plot, especially between Felix and Levi (Hayden).

The intriguing part is that Darius wants Hayden back. He knows he has hurt him, and in a letter to him, he tells him he yearns for him to serve him again, but it is a case of will Hayden let himself be deceived again, or will he grow a spine and tell him where to go and how to get there. For those who come across this third part without reading the first two, I would advise going back to the others in the series as they are well worth the read.

Verdict: I've never read a third volume like it - it has power, passion and a nail - biting ending.
