Being in Fairy Tail means that you are the best there is depending on your magic type. As we know the main characters are the attraction and all have their own styles of fighting and summoning, though this time around they have to be the ultimate best when a tournament is set up to challenge a new member. The hype is worth it as everyone is up for the challenge including all our favourites; Lucy, Gray, Natsu and Erza.

What starts out as a tournament to expose a promising S-Class member of Fairy Tail changes to become a fight for survival when a rival guild intends to destroy the entirety of Fairy Tail and any humans who are non magic users.

Lucy thinks she has got the place to herself when she gets back home after her tough ordeal, but Cara Alberona is here to stay, or at least that's the idea. She is renowned as the longest serving Fairy Tail wizard, so when she tells Lucy that she's thinking of quitting the guild, it comes as a big surprise. This is the premise for the first episode, "Best Partners," and Gray is still arguing with Natsu and the girls are still fighting over the boys in the guild, but the tournament is on everyone's mind. Taking place at Tenrou Island, the guild's holy ground. In all there will be eight chosen; Natsu, Gray, Juvia, Elfman, Cara, Fried, Levy and Mest. Each chosen guild member must choose a partner to train with over the week before the event. Here the emphasis is on testing their friendship and there are two rules for choosing a partner. One, the partner has to be a Fairy Tail member, and two, the partner can't be an S-Class wizard.

As a result of the news, everyone is arguing over who to partner with, though Natsu partnering with Happy might not be such a good idea. The tournament could also be the reason why Cara wants to quit the guild as there are revelations about previous tournaments. "Who's The Lucky One?" takes the team of eight to Tenrou Island.

Havoc ensues as the team try to do their very best as long standing members of Fairy Tail, though Cara is out to prove herself rather than test whether she is better than the other team members, and she doesn't want to fail in her mission. A lot of comical fighting starts between most of the members as, surprise, surprise many of them don't get on when they are pitted together; especially Natsu and Gray. For those competing, becoming an S-Class member is the ultimate in Fairy Tail as it means they are the best at what they do, in fighting and in magic and as a result they will have the admiration of the other members. One would think that this would be the main feature of the story, but what happens next gets in the way of it when an evil guild wants to kill off non magic users and Fairy Tail guild members alike.

There is equal comedy, fun and interesting moments where we find more out on the characters as they come to terms with their limitations. Cara's telling Lucy about her hopes in the tournament tells the viewer that Lucy is not the loner she thinks she is, and has a capacity to help the other members become better people. The characters still look good, the feel is still there from the start and the animation is as good as it was before with good special effects and comedy moments where the guild are fighting seem fast and well done.
