Their journey to Skypiea isn't what they imagined it would be as they originally thought they would have the most fun with their friends - instead they get involved in something that could set them back to square one very fast - plus the priests of Upper Yard have a few things to say to them, or more!

In this series, viewers get two arcs finished, the Enies lobby arc and Water 7 as they have been some of the longest, and it's time for Luffy and co to get into another arc that explores their characters more. This is already happening as we get to find out more of Luffy's origins and his life prior to meeting his friends as part of the Straw Hat pirates. And as most anime series would love for viewers to revisit previous episodes, there's an opportunity here for fans to do just that as what happens in certain episodes gives pause for thought about some characters and their reasons for what they did.

Nothing ever seems to get Luffy down, he's an eternal optimist who does his best for his friends and even those new friends he meets along the way. That's right, we get to meet some new crewmembers after what happens during the closing of the two arcs, and they seem decent enough (and crazy) but that is to be expected from One Piece as it's been crazy and madcap all the way through. From early on we've seen the Going Merry take Luffy and his crew through their adventures, and it's time to say goodbye - for any fan who has been with this anime since day one, it is a sad sight, but is tastefully done so the fans don't drown too much in their tears. As I said, it's a positive anime and we can't have our fans unhappy. Not when there are new developments in sight.

Developments such as a battle starting with Fire Fist Ace and legendary pirate, Blackbeard. As you can imagine, this is a really big deal, so there is a lot to wait for in One Piece 14, also be prepared for the Straw Hats to be hunted by a bounty hunter family.

You wouldn't think a bunch of pirates could have so many adventures, but the original manga-ka made it so fresh and original and weaved stories that would intrigue and wait for after each cliff-hanger season that it was worth sticking around for and buying the dvds (or the Blu-rays). There's enough action, humour and slapstick to keep viewers very happy for days - unless they binge watch (like I do).

This is a review for the DVD version of this anime.

Bonus Material: Cast and Crew Commentary and Textless Songs.

Summary: This is as much fun as you can have with the Straw Hat pirates!
