This review is for the DVD version.

Taikei isn't like other brothers he has a sister, Umaru with two sides to her personality. One is the perfect high school girl who is talented, beautiful, intelligent and well loved by her classmates. The reality is they don't know her real side she changes into when she gets home. Once she does she adopts the look of a chibi character Taikei calls a dried fish lady as a joke. She is lazy and demands Taikei feed her or she will throw childlike tantrums.

The two sides are so different it's a wonder Taikei doesn't get angry at her. It's been a year since Umaru stayed with him and as she is his responsibility, he has seen how bad she has got with her mood swings and constant demands. The way he sees it, she might not turn into a full adult at this rate.

To get her own back at Taikei not giving in to her demands, Umaru teases him in front of others whether it's his school friends as normal Umaru or complete random strangers. She likes to make him look like the bad guy as she is beautiful though what is hard to believe are her grades at school; Umaru is amazing at music, singing, dance and art as well as other subjects she doesn't need to brag about. But as her brother knows, she does have her secret life at home. There her life revolves around eating, sleeping, watching TV and playing computer games till the early hours. Umaru's slobbish ways change when Ebina comes over to see her as she is impressed at how accomplished she is, which gives Taikei a chance to leave her to do the cleaning up and dusting as she wont want to let her friend see the real her!

Himouto Umaru Chan is as schizophrenic as it gets with an anime this is teen and chibi as this one. Umaru may have to change her ways if she doesn't want to be found out as a slob. It's a full on brother and sister act with Umaru finally realising what her brother has been putting up with for all these years.
