Like I watched Battle of the Planets (we didn't know it as Gatchaman back in the 80s) this was another staple of viewing in the UK after school or college with five intrepid kids turned superheroes getting into one scrape after another and wowing us from our much tinier screens. Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers begins after the third series of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and sees the three of them in a very tough situation.

If you remember, Master Vile had unleashed his Orb of Doom to age reverse all earth people, and unfortunately this also included the Power Rangers. Though they are now much younger, they still retain their memories of what happened, but this is only due to the Ninja Power Coins. There are still limitations to their powers in this shortened state; they can't morph and engage in combat like they used to. This doesn't mean that Zordon has given up on them when he has them help out the problem Earth Master Vile wanted to conquer.

The change the Power Rangers have undergone makes them nothing more than aquatic aliens unable to gel with the Earth's environment. Showing that the five of them can prove themselves better than their adversaries, they decide to still help humanity, prevailing over all. This, as you can imagine, makes Master Vile pretty annoyed, though this doesn't stop Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd still trying to take over Earth - again. They feel they might be doomed, but Billy Cranston might have an idea of how to

Season three sets up the eventual change from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to Power Rangers Zeo and from this we get to see their new enemy, the Machine Empire. As you can imagine, a lot happens here, and not without problems along the way for the plucky five. The Ninja Power Coins come in handy, Rita and Zedd have to be taken care of after they have brought out the Hydro-Hog to take them on while they are the Aquitian Rangers. Just as Superman has difficulties with kryptonite, the newly changed Aquitian Rangers can't stay on Earth for reasons I won't go into. Needless to say, I loved the battle sequences, the depth of the characters when they were going through their change (kind of like puberty) and how they got through having to fend their enemies off of the Command Centre.

Bonus Material: Clean Opening and Closing Animations.
