Remember watching the second season of this? Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Complete Season 3 takes off where it ended with the Rangers fighting against Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa, though it seems there is another ally of theirs that could threaten Earth - Rita Repulsa's brother Rito Revolto.

The first three episodes were originally a vehicle to introduce a new TV show called Masked Rider as a crossover where a remote planet is under attack from a lone spaceship. The Masked Rider helps them with sorting out the problem while there is another at home on Earth to deal with. The fourth episode sees Rita's brother formally introduced that helps send the Rangers into a trap that ultimately sees their Thunder Megazord and Tigerzord destroyed.

This destruction can only go one way if the team aren't to see what has happened to them as a form of defeat: they are instructed to go to a desert to seek out Ninjor, the one who created the Power Coins. Once they meet Ninjor, after surviving an attack from Zedd's Tenga Warriors, he gives them new powers and new Zords - giving them new hope they can defeat the Tenga Warriors. They can, but this leads to the more realistic thought that the Rangers aren't totally superhuman, they are reliant on others to help them on the way; they can't always defeat their enemies themselves.

The other episodes are cleverly orchestrated to let fans know that nothing is what it seems for the five as strange things start to happen when they think they are engaging in their normal life; Kimberly having constant nightmares about moving to Paris which Lord Zedd later turns into an opportunity and  Adam gets a paper lantern as a gift which later has odd powers him and Billy have to investigate.

When I first watched this series, I never knew how long it lasted. Now that I am much older and wiser, I can see why this had appeal that lasted way beyond some series that aired in the UK back then. What is always great with this series are the improvements that have been made to the characters personalities as well as the general look of the series. You can get into the stories that make up this box set and feel the dire situations the Rangers have to go through both as Rangers and in their personal lives (of which they don't get much time if you think about it).

Bonus Material: Contains 33 episodes which includes the 10 Alien Rangers episodes across 5 x DVD discs.

Summary: With new characters introduced, this box set is essential for every retro viewer out there who loves Japanese sentai series!
